Highlight of my life in Japan

I am writing this at Kansai International Airport. I think I should start this trip by writing about what my life has been like over the past four months in Japan.

I believe I mentioned some life updates before, but during this time, I was able to spend more time with Japanese friends I hadn’t seen in a long time. That was one of the main reasons I came back to Japan.

Second, I had time with my mother and other family members, including my father, who is currently in the hospital. This might have been the biggest reason for being in Japan, because I hadn’t seen him or my oldest brother for a long time.

After I finished what I wanted to do in the first month, I started working as a tutor for students. To be honest, I was worried about whether I could find a job in Japan because of my age and background. Luckily, I was able to get three different jobs.

Since March, my schedule has become much busier, although I still had a fair amount of free time. Taking advantage of that, I started my podcast. I had been wanting to do it for a while, so I just started.

It has been challenging, especially when it comes to the number of listeners. At first, it was okay, but the number of views has gradually decreased. Because of that, I changed my mindset. Instead of focusing on getting more listeners, my goal is now to improve my English and publish one episode per week until I reach 20 episodes.

I heard from someone who runs a popular podcast that many people quit before reaching 20 episodes. Since hearing that, my goal has been to reach 20. So far, I’ve published 10 episodes, so I’m halfway there. I still have 10 more to go, and I will continue while traveling whenever I can, regardless of the results.

Since I had a daily routine, time passed very quickly. I also started living in a share house in February with five other friends. I had a great time with them. I didn’t expect us to get along so well, but we did. I really appreciate the time we spent together. It was painful to say goodbye when I left.

That’s pretty much what I did in Japan. As I said, time went by quickly, and it made me feel like going out into the world again.

Today is the day I am leaving Japan again. This trip is planned to last three months, unless something unexpected happens. I am excited, but at the same time, I feel nervous. It’s been a while since I last felt this way.

I already know where I will be for the first two weeks, but after that, I have no fixed plans. I will figure things out along the way. I also want to get back into the habit of writing journal entries on this blog. We’ll see what happens.

Today, I am heading to Incheon Airport for transit. I will have almost a full day before my flight to Ulaanbaatar, so I’m planning to leave the airport and explore Seoul a bit. I’m not exactly sure what I’ll do yet.

My Asia trip in 2026 begins now.
