I woke up at about 6 o’clock because of the sound of the door that somebody made, but I went back to sleep and got up at 7 o’clock. The camp had a morning and afternoon practice, and I decided not to go to the morning practice. This is because I got tired yesterday and wanted to have some time alone. So, in the morning, I had plenty of time, so I tried to get back to the study routine. However, I was kind of distracted by something, so I could not really focus on what I was supposed to do. Maybe it is because I am in France, where they live their lives at a slower pace. I feel the difference between how people in America and France live their lives. Here, I feel that they value their own time when they can relax; on the other hand, the American people rush through their lives. But I have never missed my morning routine. I am going ot share what I do every morning.
My Morning Routine
The first thing that I do after waking up is to make the bed. I know it is cliché, but I just can’t live without doing that. I am not sure when I started doing that, but it was a long time ago. The second thing is to brush my teeth and drink a glass of water. I have been doing this since I heard that people have a lot of bacteria in their mouths in the morning. So, if you drink or eat something before brushing your teeth, you also eat the bacteria together. I thought it was pretty gross. The third thing is to write a journal or diary. I think that I started doing this when I was 19 years old, for whatever reason. This is very important for me because that can lower my stress and be an opportunity to practice writing in English (Now I am trying to write it in French). And the last thing is to grab a cup of coffee. It has to be black, no sugar or milk. So that is my morning routine.
Judo Practice
Anyway, back to what I did today. After I had lunch, I took a nap. And then, I went to the dojo club to join the camp. I immediately could tell that there were many fewer students than yesterday. I do not know why. When I got there, the kids were playing some games before they started practicing. Like yesterday, I taught some techniques for older students. I am glad that they really pay attention to my teaching and demonstration. Also, I appreciate the fact that they let me teach. It has been an amazing experience. And also, the kids are so adorable. They still keep talking to me in Frehcn that I do not understand. I really hope to be able to communicate with them in the same language. Some kids even remember my name and call my name randomly. After the practice, I trained in a gym that they have in the same building.
Happiness at Bakery
On the way back to the dormitory, I felt like eating pastries, so I went to a boulangerie (bakery shop), which is everywhere in France, to buy croissants. There is a local boulangerie on the way back, so it is easy to get there. I ordered my favorite pastries, regular croissants and chocolatines (chocolate croissants), two of each. After I ordered, a nice lady asked me something. I could catch some parts, so I knew she was asking if I wanted something, so I said Oui (Yes). And she grabbed the pastries from silver trays that stack together. I was watching as she put a lot more than 4 pastries that I ordered, but the cost that she charged me was about 4 Euros. So, I thought that what I was watching was just my imagination. And after I got back to the dormitory, I opened the brown paper bag and found 6 pastries, 3 of each kind inside. I am not sure why she gave me extra ones, but whatever the reason was, it made my day. I was so happy about that. I think that she was asking me if I wanted more extras for free. As I was reading a book on my tablet, I was genuinely enjoying the croissants.
And the American neighbor came downstairs, and we started talking about random stuff, such as the plan after leaving here. He and I are leaving here on close dates. He said he reserved an Airbnb in Morocco for 2 months. I always enjoy hearing his plan. On the other hand, I have not planned anything yet, even if I am leaving next week. I think that I have to start now. We had dinner together, and we went back to our individual rooms. He is a nice person, and people here are basically nice.
That is all I got today, so see you tomorrow.
