I woke up at 7 AM today. I slept for about 8 and a half hours. It felt better than yesterday, but I was still tired regardless of the length of my sleep. Since I came here, I have been uncomfortable sleeping on the bed for some reason. I cannot sleep well on this bed for some reason. I had nothing to do today, so I spent time studying French, writing an article for my blog, and chatting with the American guy.
I got a message from a person who lives in Bordeaux and offered the Judo practice there. Unfortunately, on the arrival day, I can’t join the practice because of the train ticket. The ticket that I got was a special offer, which was only 10 Euros. But, instead, the train leaves the station in the late evening. They have practice on my arrival day, but I cannot make it. Also, because this week is a vacation week, they cannot organize any training sessions this weekend. It is what it is. I guess that I am going to stay in Bordeaux just for traveling, not for judo practice. I was looking back at the pictures that I took before. I found a picture of a meal that an old couple who are from the Netherlands and stayed in this place for a day. I still remember when they got here.
I was in the dining room on the first floor, and I found a woman outside the building, and she was kind of checking inside this building. It was kind of awkward to me. So, I went outside and asked her what she was looking for, and she said to me that she was just waiting for a key. I was wondering what kind of key she was talking about, but I found out that she did not need help, so I went back to the building. About 30 minutes later, she entered this building with a guy, and it turned out that she was waiting for a key that the owner had to give to her. I did not know that she was going to stay in the same apartment. She was with a guy this time, and they had a lot of stuff. I did not ask, but they looked in their 40s to 50s. As they were carrying the bunch of stuff, I started talking with them somehow. Both spoke very good English. I searched what languages they speak, and Dutch and English are the main languages spoken in the Netherlands. They actually speak more than 2 languages. Anyway, I found out that they came from the Netherlands to here by driving a car. They said that it took them 12 hours to get all the way down here. They said that they were going to have a wedding in Portugal next year, and they have to organize it in Portugal. That’s why they had to come by car to carry a lot of things. They had a lot of food that she said she had cooked at their homes so that they wouldn’t have to cook on the way to Portugal. After they settled down, they started eating dinner, and I was eating dinner, too. I asked them what they were eating, and they were eating some noodles and chicken legs. It looked so delicious, and I really wanted to try it. And then, she looked at me and asked me if I wanted to try it. And I said “Yes!” Even after eating my dinner, the taste was amazing. The noodles were thin, and the chickens were seasoned well with a lot of spices. I was not sure what kind of food it was, but I did not care about that. I said thank you to them, and I went back to my room. They stayed her for only one day, so I did not see them again.
After a few days, one of my neighbors, who is a math teacher, told me that some people had left some food for me in the fridge. At first, I had no idea what he was talking about, but as soon as I looked at the food that whoever had left for me, I found out who had done that. I found a white box in the fridge, and I opened it. There were thin noodles and chicken legs that I had before. I found out that the couple from the Netherlands had left some food for me before they left. I ate everything in one lunch. I was so grateful. I hoped that they would arrive in Portugal safely/ I am not sure where they are now, but it was a fascinating encounter, although I know about them very little. I should have asked for their contact information. I also hope that they are going to have a wonderful wedding in Portugal.
I have been here too long. I think I want to move on to the next trip already. Two more days left. See you tomorrow. Tomorrow’s practice is going to be the last Judo practice in Angouleme.
