A Productive Sunday with One Meal a Day & French Cooking

I woke at 5:30 because I realized I had been holding pee for a while. I opened the door of my room, and I saw the light under the door of the room where an American guy lives. As I was rubbing my eyes, I was like, “What an early morning he woke up today.” After finishing the pee, I went back to my bed to sleep again. I got up at 7 o’clock as usual, eventually. I finished the morning routine, and I started reading a book. And then, I started writing my blog, and for some reason, I was not hungry, so I kept doing that for about 4 hours. After I got tired of writing, it was about 3:30. I was locked in.

To refresh myself, I went outside to walk around this area, since it was such a nice day. Although the sun was still up, the temperature was pretty low. As I was walking, my hands were kind of numb. But it was beautiful and quiet. There is nothing here but a bunch of houses and a couple of schools, and a massive football ground. I realized that pretty much all the business is closed in France on Sunday, which I had heard before coming here. After about 40 minutes of walking, I came back.

And I had some errands to do, hanging my clothes and cleaning my room. At around that time, I could hear loud music sounds from outside my room, and I checked it. I found out that the American guy was playing music and singing loudly. I enjoyed listening to that, but I was wondering how other neighbors were feeling. I am the kind of person who likes seeing people being happy. I am pretty sure that the old, grumpy person must have gotten annoyed by that, though.

Anyway, I went downstairs to take a shower and shave my beard. My beard is far shorter than American guys’ have. For some reason, I feel much better after shaving it. After that, I was hungry because I had not eaten or had nothing but a couple of coffees. I wanted to cook and eat dinner, but there was a new neighbor that I saw yesterday was cooking with a lot of ingredients and condiments. So, basically, she occupied the kitchen space, so I gave up and decided to read a book on my tablet on the couch in the dining room. I could not really pay attention to reading because of the fantastic smell that comes from her cooking. She must be a very good cook. I was waiting for about 1 hour until she left the kitchen, and I was wondering what she was cooking. I think that French people here love food, and they are proud of their French food.

As I was cooking, the American guy came downstairs, and we started talking. He told me that today is the day when the time is changed one hour earlier. It made sense because I woke up usually at about 6:30 to 7 o’clock, but it was 5:30. Also, he told me that he was celebrating that he could finish all the work that he had to do earlier on a day, so he was drinking wine that he bought and singing music. He told me that when he lived in Mexico, it was normal. He lived there for about 5 years. He told me that people there drink a lot and play music very loudly. And I remembered that my Mexican friend was playing music very loudly when I was with him in the US. I wanted to go to Mexico one day, but what he has been telling me makes me not want to go there. He said that he has been giving me precautions. And I responded to that by saying “appreciate it”.

Anyway, I cooked some chicken thighs that were discounted from the shopping yesterday, and pasta with some tomato sauce. I was starving, so the taste was absolutely amazing. I hope that I won’t have any stomachache tomorrow. The expiring date of the chickens that I ate was yesterday. I ignored. I actually had a little bit of a tummy ache this morning. I was wondering if that was from the pork that I ate last night. But my stomach is filled with food, so I am ready for bed. I, maybe, have never experienced eating only one meal a day. It was actually nice. I did not have the strong desire for a nap that I usually have after eating lunch. Also, my focus was consistent for a long time. If I can, I would like to keep doing this. It was a very productive day and a fun Sunday. I have only 4 more days until I leave Angouleme. See you tomorrow.
